Duval "KKK" County

A Southside grandmother says pride for her new president nearly turned in to punishment for her granddaughter.

Karen Peoples says an administrator at Kernan Middle School told her granddaughter if she wore her Obama t-shirt to school again, she's be written up.

Peoples says several kids in her granddaughter's 6th grade class got the same warning. The kids say the administrator told them they weren't allowed to show "political favoritism."

But Peoples says the Obama win is cause for celebration in her family, and she's upset the school is not recognizing that. "We were trying to explain to them the good about the new presidency, the historical moments," says Peoples. "Now she doesn't understand this whole political thing. Is it a good thing? Or what is this? It's confusing."

We asked the School Board if wearing political t-shirts was against the dress code. The School Board said no. It says it asks teachers to remain politically neutral, but students can support whoever they like, as long as the t-shirts are not offensive.

The Priniciple [sic] of Kernan Middle School sent a[n] email to all school employees asking who may have made this statement and why.

The school district says it would like more parents to come forward if and when situations like this arise so it can be handled immediately.

My response:

I hate Duval County School Board. They are a bunch of incompetent idiots who do nothing but pontificate about nothingness. I don't understand why the principal of Kernan Middle had to sent out an email to ask who made the statement. That is clearly a CYA move. If you want to know who made the statement, here's an idea...ASK THE CHILD! Stupid.

I am so mad right now I want to spit. This administrator needs to be disciplined and disciplined severely as he or she has obviously abused his or her position of power.

Betta be glad it wasn't my child...
